THE TRIP THAT COMPLETED MY SCANDINAVIA LIST, ICELAND

One of our trips that were unplanned nor well prepared of. Going to Iceland was one of our most awaited and most looked forward trip as a couple but we didn’t jump into the excitement right away since there were a lot of things to consider. Yet, we came to Iceland unprepared and shocked. Still, I don’t mind visiting it every year.. so peaceful, untouched and relaxing.

A lot to consider since it’s Scandinavia, definitely high standard and expensive. From the plane tickets to food and car rentals and everything in between.

First and so far the only time we tried AirBnB was in Reykjavik as well. We didn’t likedย the experience and I’m guessing that we will not book an AirBNB again anytime soon. MJ has an Icelandic friend living in Oslo, he supposed to lend us his car during our stay. Unfortunately, the car didn’t came up and we had to book a car UPON ARRIVAL. There is no way you can tour the country or even get out of the airport without a vehicle. (Maybe there is but I’m pretty sure it will not be easy). I am not booking a car in those well-known and highly advertised car rentals at the airport! I googled and checked my social medias to find the best on the spot deal. And tadaaa, LAVA AUTO CAR RENTAL,saved the whole trip. http://www.lavaauto.is. I forgot how much MJ paid for but it was not too much for a new car and great service.

Basically we only had 2 nights and 3 days to enjoy Iceland. Our itinerary went something like this..

DAY 1: DOWNTOWN REYKJAVIK and FJORUBORDID RESTAURANT(highly recommended)

NOODLE STATION, DOWNTOWN At Noodle Station, another highly recommended in downtownDIRTY BURGER & RIBSFJORUBORDID/AT THE SEASHORE RESTAURANT https://www.fjorubordid.is/

DAY 2: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE ( Pingvellir National Park, Gullfoss, Haukadalur, Gullfoss, Skogafoss and Crater Lake)- Tip: Leave early and give the golden circle a whole day for stress free and careful driving.

DAY 3: BLUE LAGOON – Tip: Visit the blue lagoon after arrival or before departure since it’s close to the airport. ADDITIONAL TRAVEL TIP:

Prepare for the weather! Very unpredictable, our cellphones and camera were broken during the trip because it was super windy, cold and freezing rain.

Always,

Gwendolyn ๐Ÿ’•
